Thanksgiving is coming!

When I worked in the ER during my college days, Thanksgiving around 11:30 was when the chaos started. People who had overeaten that thought they were having heart attacks. We would be super crazy busy until around 3 in the morning. Then I guess they would head out to black friday events.
The thing is - just like Christmas isn’t or should not be about the gifts, Thanksgiving should not be about the food. I know you look forward to these foods all year long… but you don’t have to overeat them!
I am not going to tell you NOT to eat those things…. Although I am going to suggest some alternatives here… but I will suggest this… Fill your plate with ¼ carbs, ½ protein and ¼ veggies. After you finish - drink an 8 ounce glass of water and if you are still hungry go for another round. BUT if you have just a little more room in the stretch pants - maybe you would rather have 1 piece of pie?!?!?!
Really, chew your food and really enjoy the food and be grateful for it and for the people who made it.
By the way….. it’s no shock that the average American consumes about 4,500 calories and up to 229 grams of fat on Thanksgiving!
Ok here are some healthy alternatives to those side dishes:
And some healthier desserts:
And here is a source for all things clean and Thanksgiving.
Happy Thanksgiving!
